High Resolution Ion Mobility-Mass Spectrometry for Lipid Analyses
High Resolution Ion Mobility-Mass Spectrometry for Lipid Analyses
Lipids are extremely complex biomolecules that have several essential roles in biological processes. They have been shown to play roles in several diseases including Alzheimer's disease (AD), Parkinson's disease (PD), cardiovascular disease (CVD), and some cancers. Due to the high complexity of the lipidome and the vast number of isomers present, accurate identification of all lipid species present in a profile is extremely difficult. Additionally, monitoring of more than one lipid class at a time can be cumbersome. Here we demonstrate how HRIM-MS can be used as a high throughput alternative to liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) for separation of isobaric and isomeric lipid species.
Flow Injection HRIM-MS Analysis:
- FIA-HRIM-MS enables separation of both isomeric and isobaric lipid species in complex extracts.
- The 2-minute FIA-HRIM-MS high-throughput analysis of lipid extracts.
